Event Information
Master craftsman Halim and his wife Mina sell traditional caftans in an old town in Morocco. Times are changing and customers are not prepared to wait for his beautiful, hand-crafted garments. To satisfy their demanding customers without compromising their high standards, the couple hire a talented young apprentice, Youssef. As Mina becomes more ill, she realises how much her husband is moved by Youssef's presence, and old secrets emerge. Beautifully written and directed, with every frame like a painting, The Blue Caftan has won a multitude of awards and confirms Maryam Touzani as a giant in African cinema.
